....i just installed a HP JetDirect J2555A network card in my HP 4v printer
.....when I plug the RJ-45 cable from my printer into my hub the light does
not go on ...so I can't place the printer on my network ....but the
printer does recognise the HP JetDirect card because when I print a
'self-test page' - it is there ...with an error message I/O CARD NOT READY:
02 ' LAN ERROR - INTERNAL LOOPBACK ... I was told the card only works if I
use a router instead of a hub ....any truth to this?

....thanks

No truth. The card works on hubs, too. A JetDirect card looks like any other
device with an Ethernet card in it.

Make sure that the card is firmly seated in its slot, and tighten down the two
screws. Check the RJ-45 Cat 5 cable. Is it a straight patch cable, or a
crossover cable? It needs to be a straight patch cable... Ben Myers
