My HP 455CA just broke a main carriage belt this morning...Old printer, way
out of warranty, but worked good as new till this morning.
I found one online through partsolver.com for $28...
HP said that same day service for repair would be flat fee of $1400, but for
2-3 day service would be flat $1100.
Said work would be guaranteed fixed, regardless of problem, even if it
required replacing printer.
Think I'll order the part, and see what is involved here.
Anyone ever attempted to replace one before?
Are there any tricks to this, special tools, calibrations, etc.?
Anyone have technological how to advice on replacing the carriage belt for
an HP 455ca?

In addition to the $28 for the part, pay what is required to have a genuine HP
service manual for the beast. After all, you are putting yourself in the
hardware repair business. Might as well have the tools to do the job right,
especially if you do not have the memory to reassemble everything in EXACTLY the
reverse order from which you disassembled it.
I work on B&W LaserJets, and the service manuals, even if imperfect, are
indispensible. They also tell you what tools you need... Ben Myers

You might try eBay. Also, www.manuals2go.com has all kinds of manuals, either
for a download or on CD. Didn't see the 455ca there, though. Worth asking,
tho... Ben Myers
