Hi,
I have a HP 6020 (SCSI) 6020 CD-writer, and I am looking for a Windows 98
driver for it.
According to the HP website, there is no Win98 driver for this device
available, which seems odd to me.
Does anyone know if (and where) a suitable driver for this device is
available?
Thanks!
Bart

driver is for the scsi card, not for the writer
for the writer, as you know it, you need a program as nero or easy
cd-creator
which scsi card do you have ?
you can change it for an Adaptec scsi card, as a 2904 or a 2906

The 6020 Surestore CD-writer does not need a driver to be used as a simple
CD-ROM drive. It only needs a SCSI host adapter with a supporting Windows 98
SCSI driver.
To use the device as a CD burner under Windows 98, you need separate software to
burn CDs. Commercial CD burning software includes Nero Burning, Roxio's EZ CD
Creator, NTI's CD Maker. All have a similar look and feel in their basic
versions. All have "Pro" versions to add more features. Some of these packages
support only specific models of CD-RW devices. Make sure the 6020 is supported
by the version of the package you buy.
You can also download and use one of two FREE open source products: EZ Burning
or CDR Tools Front End, plus Visual ISO. These bits of software are based on
Linux developments including the Red Hat Cygwin, a Windows DLL that provides a
high level Linux software interface to enable some Linux programs to run under
Windows. Visual ISO allows you to build lists of files to be burned onto a
blank CD.
The free tools have one advantage and one disadvantage. They will detect and
work with almost any CD burner ever made. The bad news is that their user
interfaces are unpolished to the point of being clumsy to use. But they do
work... Ben Myers

I have a Buslogic FlashPoint PCI SCSI adapter.
However, this does not seem to be the problem because I can use the
CD-Writer to read CDs.
My specific problem is that when I try to install Roxio's Easy CD creator
(version 5.02), the installation program says that the HP CD-writer 6020 is
not supported by EZ CD creator.
However, when I check on Roxio's website, it says that the 6020 is supported
as of version 4.X.
So I'm not sure why I have this problem ...
