View Full Version : HP LJ5 Si duplex problem

Hi all,
I have installed NT 4 server sp6a with a DJ940c (LPT1) and LJ 5Si with
duplux unit (LPT2)
While installing the 5Si first as printer I pointed it to LPT1 instead of 2.
I gave the testpage instruction thinking I had it setup right and of course
no printout.
I redirected it to LPT2 now, but now I can't make the printer print in
duplux.
I have the option set on Yes on the printer itself, but I don't get the
option for it in the printjob properties.
Am I missing something or am I facing another (re)install of NT?
I have used the latest drivers from the site.
Thanks for your time

It certainly is possible. I printed duplexed to a 5Si from NT for
several years, and never used anything but the standard drivers.
If I recall correctly there is a page in the printer properties where
you set "device settings." That's where you tell the driver what
options are installed. I know how to get to the page in Windows 2000,
but I can't remember where it was on NT.

Somewhere deep within the Properties for the 5Si driver there is a
place where you tell the driver what options are installed and how
much RAM the printer has. If you install the driver with the printer
turned on and connected, most of the time the options are
autodetected. But if the driver doesn't know that you have the
duplexer installed it will not present the option to the user in the
print dialog box. In that case you have to find the place in the
Properties sheet and tell the driver manually that the duplexer is
installed.
