I'm sharing an HP G85 OfficeeJet in a home office network that has no HP
print server. Currently, I'm directly connected to the printer, and my
wife shares it through me. That's OK, but my computer has to be running
for her to print.
I would like to set up the printer so that it is equally accessed by
either of our computers, but I can't get the installer to recognize our
printer's TCP address over the home network (Microsoft Broadband.) Is
there a way to install the printer as part of a network without having
to buy HP's print server?

Ed,
In a word, no, I think.
If your OfficeJet G85 already has an external JetDirect box, then networking is
a no-brainer, and I would advise using HP's Install Network Printer Wizard. If
by "print server", you mean a JetDirect box, that's EXACTLY what is needed to
operate and use the G85 independently of any computer in a network. Without a
JetDirect, the G85 does not have a TCP/IP address.
