does anyone know exactly what would be the best configurations for an hp
media center computer without monitor and keeping it all under 2000 after
all the taxes and warrantys and things like that

got an 854N at Microcenter in columbus, Ohio, about 9 months ago, without
monitor, for $1,300. It works just fine with my sony trinitron 200es that I
already had. It has a 120gb hd, and with the firewire/usb2.0 port, I can
add an external big hd when the first one fills up. (There's no room inside
for another internal HD, unless you mount it in a cardboard box, which I've
been known to do).
