Hello NG!
We have a server, the three year service is expired, and saturday the first
SCSI disk (of three) broke (there is a red led on and a message during the
POST)
Now, those old 9.1 Gb disks are hard to find... can I buy a new one, let say
a 36Gb, and put in the Raid?
I don't care if I lose 27Gb on that disk, I care of the server ;)
TIA

Buy a new 9.1Gb (or secondhand), restore your data.
Than replace all the disks with new 36Gb.
Losing now 27Gb is not bad, when a second one failes (and it will) the loss
goes up to 54Gb.
Good luck.

Depends on your RAID controller and RAID level used?
some older controllers don't like mixed disks.
If it works you will be able to use only 9GB of the new disk in RAID,
while with a second 36GB you could use 36GB in RAID-1 config.
But as written before it may be a better choice to upgrade all three
disks,
as the other two can die at any time now.
There is no reason to go for HP labeled disks, if you want to save
money.
