I have a big problem with my deskjet 916c on my Windows XP machine:

Every some weeks it suddenly stops working. It wont print from Word, nor
Notepad, nor command prompt nor test sheets. Microsoft Event console says:
(translated from German)
Date : [..] Source: Print
Time: [..] Category: None
Type: Failure Event-ID: 61
User: [..]
Computer:[..]
Description: Document [..] owned by [..] was not printed. The Win32-Error
Code was returned by print processor: 3 (0x3).
Further Information [...]

At go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp they say there is no further
information. At HP's homepage neither. Complete deinstallation including
manually deleting any file associated to the printer in windows\system32 and
manually removing registry keys associated to the printer and new
installation does not help, neither does uninstalling the parallel port, nor
does complete reinstallation of the whole system (tried it once ;-)). When I
open the printer, and see what happens when I print something (for example
out of Word), I see the document for a blink of an eye, then it's gone. I
set "don't delete jobs after printing" and when I try printing again, I see
the document and as status it says "Sent to printer".
Now the funny thing: I have shared the printer for my home network
(consisting of another windows 95 machine). When I print from that Win95
machine, the printer works fine!!!
The problem usually holds on for a week or so and then it's gone as sudden
as it started.

Now my system configuration in case it may be needed:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+ on a Elitegroup K7S5A 3.1, 512MB Ram, NVIDIA
geforce200mx graphics, printer hooked up to parallel port LPT1 (same problem
if hooked to USB port though), newest hp printer driver. Windows XP SP1 with
all critical updates installed. I can not trace the problem to any new
drivers or software I install /uninstall. Norton AntiVirus says my system is
clean.

That was a bunch to read, I know. I hope anyone can help me, this is driving
me crazy!! I am having this problem for over 2.5 years now, every some weeks
the printer stops working and then after a while does print again!! I don't
want to wait for a week this time, I need to print now!!

Thanks in advance!
