I just purchased a HP Pavillion A420N computer in the last two weeks.
I have noticed that it takes almost 1 minute and thirty seconds from
the time I turn on the switch and the Blue HP Logo screen is displayed
until Windows Home starts to boot up.
Is this Normal?
If it is not normal is there any way to reduce this time?
.. HP support has not helped much. I think they thought it was a
Windows boot problem, Windows boots up pretty fast when it finally
gets started,

The company I do consulting for just bought a Pavilion a400y and it takes 6
minutes to boot up, yes you heard me right, 6 minutes. I went into the CMOS
setup and disabled the "splash" screen so that I could see what was going on
during the boot up process. It just sits there with the following screen
display:

Memory Testing +8192K Shared Memory

after 6 minutes, it goes through a normal POST and successfully boots in
Windows XP Professional

I'm in this newsgroup now looking for an answer. This system does NOT have
a separate graphics card, it's using the integrated one on the motherboard
and it's listed to have 8mb of RAM, which explains the +8192K of shared
memory above. Does your system use the built-in graphics card as well ???
