I wonder if these combination can enable scanner on G55.
I have a couple of PC and one iMAC, and that is the reason I purchased 175x
instead of 170x.
Though G55 manual only mentioned about 170x, I found a web site
http://www.insey.com/misc.html
telling G55 and 175x could do printing and scanning across the network.

I connected 175x and G55 then clicked the test print button on 175x to
verify their connection.
After that I attempted to install G55 driver that I downloaded from HP web
site (I could not find
the original CD-ROM included with G55 package. I hope it's not critical).
There were two
choices, local or network. Following on G55 manual, I chose network, but
installer never
recognized G55 so that installation screen nevr proceeded. When I chose
local, installation
finished but scanner didn't work. If I use CD-ROM included with 175x, G55
was detected as
a plain printer, not as All-In-One Printer.

when I setup from iMAC, it just worked as it should be. I could print and
scanned through 175x.
Unfortunately my main machine is PC so that this situation is not so good.

Package box of 175x lists "Works best with these network capable HP
peripherals" and G series
are one of them. If anybody succeeded to run scanner with 175x + G55, please
let me know what
I'm missing.

Thanks,
