Hi all,
Hope this this the right group for the question.
I just received an HP Vectra VL PII-266 desktop computer. I am have problem
figuring out how to open the case. I flipped up the two handles on the
sides, near the front, but that did not seem to do anything.
Also, what was the original spec, such as maximum memory it would support,
hhd size, etc? HP seems to have dropped any support on this model.
Any help is appreciated

Tomas,
After flipping up the handles, turn the system so the back is facing down and
lift up the chassis cover. In any event, opening up one of these systems is a
bit of a struggle.
HP has rarely provided good technical information about its systems. Your best
bet is to enter the exact model and number in the support section of the HP web
site and hope something turns up.
The 266MHz Pentium II systems came at a critcal time between Pentium I systems
and the later P2/P3 systems. At worst, the BIOS will support hard drives up to
8.4GB. But the upper limit may be higher.
Does the motherboard use DIMMs or SIMMs? Early computers with DIMMs were
downright difficult to deal with due to memory specifications... Ben Myers
