Hello,
I am using XP pro and was dealing with the same card reader issue. The
card reader drive used to show up in My Computer but now was nowhere
to be found.(I believe it got dismounted somehow.) My fix was to just
put the software CD in and let it auto play. It will tell you the
software is already properly installed and will give you two choices,
uninstall the software or install a new device. I chose install a new
device. It found the printer and has reconnected the drive so that it
shows in My Computer. I am now able to transfer my photos to the PC.
Hope this helps.

Takes a year to install, and is very slow and unreliable... On the same subject.. I am having enormous problems with the software being able to download images from the memory card reader(s). Everything else works fine - printing, scanning etc.. but when I try to download images, it keeps telling me that the machine is not connected - argggghhhh "Jason Redmill" <jase71@blueyonder.co.uk> wrote in message news:DmU7c.3669$S61.1169@news-binary.blueyonder.co.uk... Hi, Has anyone else had problems with the director software for the psc 2510? It seems so unreliable, in that it randomly crashes on PC shutdown and during normal use. The printer is on my home network and I have this software installed on 3 machines altogether with all the same problems. I have updated the software to its latest levels. Any help would be appreciated. Jason Redmill

I have experienced all the problems in this thread. It took three
attempts to install the HP software on a new XP Pro installation
(hangs, crashes etc) and then no Z: drive for the card reader. I
tried the above suggestion and, sure enough, its working now, so
thanks for the tip.
