I have some experience building my own PC. I have no experience
whatsoever with laptops. An advertisement for the ASUS D1 wets my
appetite for building an IBM-PC compatible laptop. However, before
rushing into action, I would appreciate comments and suggestions from
experienced PC builders about
1. The ASUS D1 and alternatives to it.
2. Building laptops in general (what to expect, potential problems,
points of caution, etc.)

Thanks in advance.

Since there are a few standardized parts for laptops, it will probably
end up cheaper to purchase a pre-made.

There are last year, refurbs good deals.
