I maintain several quicken files. One file seems to ALWAYS be
downloading quotes to the point that keyboard entry of data is greatly
inhibited and is VERY slow.
The other files I maintain act normally.
There must be some setting I have turned on accidently in the "slow"
file, but I sure can't seem to find it.
I hope somebody can help me.
Thanks.

I really don't know why this is happening on that one file. There isn't a
setting for automatically downloading stock quotes that I know of.
The best choice might be to save a copy including all transactions to a new
file and see if the new file continues the bad behavior.

How many years of data do you have in that file? I tend to keep dates older
than about 3 years in separate 3-4 year files (I have them all the way back to
1990; on rare occasions I've needed to go back that far. I generally upgrade
them to the current Q after I'm sure the bugs are worked out.)
Here's something else to try on a copy of your file: delete all the ticker
symbols in the securities and see if it still does it. That is, it should not
try to donwload anything. If not, add them back one at a time and check. Maybe
there is one ticker that is the culprit.
