View Full Version : PCI Card Restraint Suggestion

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has a good suggestion on restraining PCI
peripheral cards in a computer which is onboard an aircraft--Is LocTite
conductive :)
On one of my medium length cards in particular, the screw holding down
the angled bracket to the Chassis isn't enough. The other side of the cards
pads seems to vibrate out of the motherboard's PCI connector. The card
isn't long enough to make it to the other side of the case where those
vertical slot supports could be mounted.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

There a whole different form factors for environments like that.
Check out PC104+.

the sound card in my MP3 player (P166 desktop) that bounces around in my
trunk. I cut off a short piece of a "swim noodle" (dense cell foam) and slit it so
it fit over the end of the card. When I put the cover on it wedged between
the cover and the top of the card. Be careful not to block too much air circulation. The piece I ended up with is about 2" long so there is still
air flow around it.

Drat. I went googling and found a few manufacturers that sell
ruggedized cases with enhanced retention; one is at
http://www.guardian.com.au/computers/l-pacdata.pdf. Other than
that... the foam somebody suggested might work...
