View Full Version : Asus A7V8X-X: problems with on-board lan

Hello,

I have a strange problem with the on-board lan port of my Asus A7V8X-X
Mainboard.

Normally, I use the port for ADSL and it works fine with W2000 and Linux.
The status LED shines in green.

But now I would like to connect two PCs. So I connected the LAN port to a
switch and - as an alternative - I used a crossed network cable and
connected the two PCs directly with each other. But now the LED of the MB
LAN port shines in orange (but the status LED of the switch shines green)
and after booting both PCs i can't ping one PC from the other one.

I think it's not an error of my network configuration, because the LED
shines in orange even if no network config is loaded.

Do you know what's the meaning of the orange LED? Do you have the same
problem? And even better: Could you tell me what's wrong?

I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Dieter
