I need to get a new computer, and would really like to get an Opteron if I can afford it.....but I don't know where to look to see how much they are selling for. I'm happy to settle for a single processor with not too much memory, high power graphics, etc etc. I can add memory later and just crunch numbers so don't need the graphics now. Thanks for your help. If you're happy to wait five weeks, you should then be able to get the
desktop version of the Opteron which *should* be faster and cheaper than
the Opterons available now. The currently available Opterons are about 3
or 4 times as expensive as 32bit Athlons of the same performance level,
so unless you're really desperate for an x86-64 CPU this week, it'd be
best to wait.
