Crucial.com and punch in your motherboards MFG and Model number or in the
case if a system like a Dell, your model number, and it will find the
correct memory for you. You don't necessarily have to buy from them BUT, you
will get probably as good a deal as off eBay, and you get guaranteed
compatibility! and good memory, Crucial has excellent memory and return
policy. No I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer. I work on
'puters for a liv'in and don't have time for compatability issues, or memory
that craps out in 6 months! Sometimes you can get lucky on eBay, but I'd
rather have a superior product for a reasonable price.
Good Luck

news:0aV_a.4207$Nf3.353@newsread4.news.pas.earthlink.net... I purchased a 512MB 168-pin PC133 memory module from an eBay seller, but after I installed the RAM, my computer only recognizes it as being 128MB, not 512MB. I started out with a 256 and a 128 chip = 384MB. I removed
the 128 and replaced it with the (supposedly) 512 = 640MB, but my system is still showing 384MB total. My question: This seller has really excellent feedback and even is a
Power Seller. Is it possible that he/she is disguising 128MB chips as 512MB and selling them for more than what they're worth, or is there something else going on?? I talked with a friend and he said my motherboard is able to support 512MB chips, but I'm starting to think that may be incorrect... Although I've noticed a considerable difference in things like boot-up speed, application processing speed, and the like. What's going on??!! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3423411462 -- K-Dub
