View Full Version : Does memory bank order matter?

While assembling my PC with an Intel D845GEBV2, I put a 512 MB RAM stick in
bank 1 and left bank 0 empty since I had plugged in the AGP card first and
the AGP retention mechanism was occuluding memory bank 0. Though everything
seems to be working fine, I wonder if there are any performance issues with
this configuration. If so, I'll open the chassis again to do the needful. I
recollect the motherboard manual from a computer that I built years ago
saying that the banks need to be filled in a certain order, but the manual
for my present motherboard does not say anothing about this, though it does
warn that the memory in bank 0 should be inserted before plugging in the AGP
card ( I read this part later).
