DDR and Dual Channel operation

Does a JEDEC conform 6 layer DDR (f.e. DDR433, DDR400, DDR333) memory module
and its SPD EEProm need to meet any additional special requirements in order
to work in Dual Channel mode with nVidia nForce2 Ultra400 or Intel
Canterwood 865PE/G and 875P chipsets?

Or can any pair of modules specified as DDRxyz be expected to work in Dual
Channel mode as well?

AFAIK there are no special reqts and I have used "normal" PC3200/DDR400 in
dual channel mode in a nForce2 mbrd.
Or can any pair of modules specified as DDRxyz be expected to work in DualChannel mode as well?

I think you should just be be sure that they have identical latency specs.

In theory they should work but some don't seem to "play nice" with certain
Mobo's and chipsets. Notice some have certain modules they recomend? I've
used modules that aren't on their list and had no problems but I also never
buy cheapo ram.
