I am very new to CorelDraw10 and would appreciate some help on what is
probably a very simple question for all you gurus.
I have an existing CorelDraw file (CDR) and I want to save a portion of
this file as a GIF for inclusion in a web page. I select the portion I
want and cut it. I then paste this it into a new CoredDraw file. I then
select Export and save it as a GIF (sort type - vector). I then
include this image on my web page. However, the image that gets put on
my web page is too big. When I try reducing it within my web page, it
does not reduce well and you get a checkerboard effect.
Therefore, I presumed that I need to reduce it in CorelDraw. However,
no matter what I do in CorelDraw, I always end up with the same sized
image.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would open the GIF in Photopaint, convert Color Mode to 24bit RGB,
resample to desired size (in pixels since it's for the Web). Tweak
colour if it changes during the process. Convert back to Paletted
8bit optimized, save as GIF, with transparency if the original had
some.
Is this the normal procedure for preparings GIFs out of CorelDraw. I
was assuming that you could do something similar in CorelDraw.
I haven't tried as you suggested but when I used Paint, the image
changed to a checkerboard effect when I changed size.

I may have not gone back far enough with what you did. I was treating
the resulting gif rather than why the gif was poor in the first place.
When you export as a gif, the default or bitmap sort type should work.
Make sure that when asked for the size, you specify the exact size in
pixels needed for your web page. You do not want to be resizing the
gif.

hi,
try selecting all you want to export, and then in first export command
windo check the option "selected only", and after this set the correct
pixel size and resolution of a picture, it should work fine
goood luck
