Default Monitoring Installation of Software

Does Win XP have software, or can you recommend software that will
allow me to see every detail of installing a software program on my PC?

I ignore postings on topics I'm not interested in rather than sending
more unwanted mail to the group.
SysInternals has some great monitoring tools for folks involved with
software delivery to Windows machines. In my role leading a CM Team,
that's an important part of what we do every day, though clearly not a
core piece of "version control". Some might argue software delivery is
an important piece of Software Configuration Management :-)
See DiskMon especially, but all of their tools may be of interest.
Firm was just acquired by Microsoft but the deliverables haven't been
perverted yet :-)

Control of the installation process is part of SCM.
