I opened up to check and there is a tiny gap where VF fits to the backplane at the side nearest the fan. Pushing has no effect as the fitting plate of VF is firmly against the computer back. But it was working before I moved the set - don't know whether this is simply coincidence and VF has died? Please has anyone any suggestions?
You have plugged your monitor into the normal video output and not the
connector on the back of the Viewfinder card (hence "Please look at
Viewfinder's video output").

There are two leads from the monitor (old VM Pro) and I'm
getting the message whichever way round I put them.

If only it were so simple - but monitor leads plugged into VF and the
normal video output as usual.

Well just to be sure the monitor isn't ignoring the signal, leave the
motherboard VGA unplugged. If you don't get any signal with the monitor
switched to either input, you've confirmed the VF card isn't functioning.
Best thing to do is to remove the podule above/below ViewFinder, then take
out ViewFinder itself. Disconnect the graphics card from the podule interface
card, then put it back together pushing it right in to the AGP connector. It
should go in and sit level with just a small and equal amount of gold
contacts visible just above the connector. Put the ViewFinder back in the
Risc PC ensuring its pushed fully home in to the podule connector, and in
turn the podule connector is pushed down in to the motherboard.
If you still have trouble after this I'll turn on the Risc PC and see what
diagnostics the VF software offers.

Thanks - put the DSub (think that's what it's called) to VF and left
the monitor lead with fourjacks disconnected and it's working.
So I'll leave it like that.

I had various problens getting dual-head VF to work, not least that
there were no screws to hold the monitor connectors to the sockets on
the back of the VF unit and the weight of the cables tended to pull the
connection apart.
I also had the problem you describe; if I remember correctly I took the
metal plate off the back off the VF card, fitted some washers as
spacers and put it back together again. That made the metal plate a
little further away from the backplane connector.

What happens when you try selecting the monitors other input using the
Monitors on screen control panel?
