That is not malevolent sounding? Anybody know of a nice looking one that is safe to use?
I have used this one: http://www.screensaverfx.com/Get the ver.2.5. It even has splashy sounds.

Very good - thanks. It is also highly configurable - I could easily add
fish-fart sounds if I wanted.

Mike, it's not the same one. That other one is from Marimo Software andis called Fishsaver2. FishSaver2 requires a pretty good video card. Incase anybody's interested, different versions of it are available here: http://www.marimosoft.com/soft/fs2/index.shtmland one of them may work with your computer. I prefer version 1.2.

I went there and found that the only version available appears to be
v1.7, the links to other versions (well, I tried 1.2 and 1.4) gave
Nipponese 404s and my East European ftp searches yielded only v1.7 and
no earlier versions, much to my surprise.
Honestly, v1.7 appears to be something like 11MB as far as I could see,
which seems to be a bit of a bloat and, for all I know, may not run with
Win98se. How big is v1.2? Would you be able (and willing) to post it in
alt.comp.binaries or somewhere?

Thanks very much in advance!

Strange. I used to run that SS and used that option. Never had any problems at all. My computer has an ancient AGP GeForce4 card with 128 mb ram on it.
I was talking about a PII 400 MHz with an ATI Rage or somesuch, that has only 16 MB memory. When I obtained this machine in '99, the program was already three years old, which is a LOT in the computer world.

Do you mean the program or the computer was three years old?

Done. Note that it's 3 mb once on your drive.

news:alt.binaries.freeware

Yes thanks. I thought I'd better check because I think I mentioned a
non-existent newsgroup earlier on.
It hasn't yet propagated to the Demon news server, (goodness knows where
Demon gets it from, or how often), but it should appear before long.

I included .par files with the upload in case the file gets corrupted
somehow.

The program was three years old (made in 1996), when I bought my
computer in Y2K minus one. It was made for art's sake, not for a given
processor generation, I suppose.
