Default iPod Artwork

is there a way to embed artwork that is already on the ipod. i have
songs on my ipod that are no longer on my computer. i have tried to add
the artwork to the song, via the "drag and drop here", but clearly that
does not embed the artwork to the song. i have tried ticking and
unticking "show the artwork on the ipod". ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!! its
rather annoying..

the post above is a bit wrong: this is how it should read:

"is there a way to embed artwork to a song that is already on the ipod
(so as the artwork can be seen next to the title and artist on the
ipod)? i have songs on my ipod that are no longer on my computer. i
have tried to add the artwork to the song, via the "drag and drop
here", but clearly that does not embed the artwork to the song. i have
tried ticking and unticking "show the artwork on the ipod". i can see
the artwork for the songs on the ipod, in itunes when i plug my ipod
in, but the song just dont display on the ipod itself. ANY SUGGESTIONS
PLEASE!!! its rather annoying..

Put the songs back onto your Mac first and add the artwork there. There
are quite a few freeware and shareware utilities that will accomplish
this, such as Senuti:
