Default PCL6 font control codes

I have a unix server which prints raw data to the printer. The raw data has
embedded PCL printer control codes to enhance the reports with Univers font
for headings etc. This has worked fine for many years on a HPLJ3, then on
a HPLJ5 an LJ1100 and on a LJ1200. I just bought a HP LJ3055 MFC to replace
an old HPLJ5 printer and I am having problems. The reports seem to only use
Courier font. The PCL6 font list test page prints a lot of good fonts
including Univers, but it seems that it is ignoring the PCL5 control codes
from my application. What is going on? I can't find anything on the manual
about any special control codes. Are they different between PCL5 and PCL6?
