I've got a multi flash card reader which I'm trying to get working with
Unipod. Unfortunately, Unipod doesn't even put up a 'not recognised'
window with Vendor and Product IDs.
*USBdevices similarly shows nothing.
If I plug the reader into my PC, I get the following from System
Information. Is there any way I can deduce the vendor and product IDs from
this?

You'll have to delve into the registry for these, at least, that worked for me.
Try searching for pid and vid.
Alternatively check out http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids
if you have a name associated to the device.

Try Choices > USB
'Enable USB Core at startup' <tick>
'Enable popups for unknown devices' <tick>

Eh! My ...!Boot.Choices.Users.Single.USB.Choices doesn't have any of those
lines.

Eh! My ...!Boot.Choices.Users.Single.USB.Choices doesn't have any of those lines. Where do they hang out on your machine?
Sorry, too terse. I meant:
click menu on the Task Manager
click Choices, to open the 'Configuration' window
click USB, to open the 'USB Configuration' window
click Core to open the 'USB Core Configuration' window
tick 'Enable USB Core at startup'
tick 'Enable popups for unknown devices'

I tried to look at !Boot.Choices.Users.Single.USB.Choices, out of
curiousity, but find that it doesn't exist, not even the USB directory!
Unipod is working perfectly, under RO4.39, and will accept changes of
configuraton, via the machine Configuration window. The question is,
where are these options being saved? I've looked at all the files in

Thanks, I thought you meant somewhere else, mine is already set up that
way.

This is puzzling because
*show usb$choicesdir USB$ChoicesDir : ADFS::ide.$.!BOOT.Choices.Users.Single.USB
Unipod is working perfectly, under RO4.39, and will accept changes of configuraton, via the machine Configuration window. The question is, where are these options being saved?
They are saved as the Obey file
!BOOT.Choices.Users.Single.Boot.PreDesk.SetUpUSB

I've looked at all the files in
!Boot.Resources.!MassFS !Boot.Resources.!USB !Boot.Resources.Configure.!USBSetup
but can find nothing relevant. Is it possible that the options are saved to Unipod flash memory? If so, then why define USB$ChoicesDir?
My !BOOT.Choices.Users.Single.USB does contain a Choices file, but I've no
idea what it means. I have lines like, for example:
4310,4352,"USB 2.0(FS) FLASH DISK ","C",1
4310,4352,"USB 2.0(FS) FLASH DISK ","I0",0

Of course! My short term memory seems to have disappeared completely!

Could this be a relic of an earlier version of !USB? It doesn't have a
RunImage, but files in my copy of USB contain the following id lines:
