I have been trying to Google on this, but have not found anything
concrete. What I want to know is this:
Will the iTV let me run Front Row directly on that unit (i.e. displaying
the Front Row screens on my TV, rather than on the computer)? I want to
browse my music collection without having to keep going back to the
computer. Can I do this *from the iTV unit itself*? From what little
I've read, it would seem so. Just thought I'd see if anyone here knew.
I got rid of my Airport Express since I was tired of having to go back
to the computer every time I wanted to change a song (plus my new iMac's
speakers are sufficient). I assume that the iTV won't make us do this?

The only info I have seen starts at 51 minutes into the video

You need <Express Remote>. It gives you remote control of iTunes (and
other Mac software). Its IR receiver plugs into the USB port of the
Airport Express.

You need Express Remote <http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/urm17a/homepage.spml>. It gives you remote control of iTunes (and other Mac software). Its IR receiver plugs into the USB port of the Airport Express.

I'd rather not have to buy external hardware, but I'll think about it.

Ah, thanks. Just what I needed to see. Apparently this thing does do a
souped-up version of Front Row - so even if I don't do movies or TV
shows I can use this thing for just music. Cool!
Bye-bye, Airport Express.

Addendum: I really hope this thing will also be a DVR. If it's that, I'll be rejoicing.
It's not, by all accounts. It's a way to connect your TV to your
"digital hub", which some of us already accomplished by paying slightly
more for a much more capable Mac mini and hooking *that* to the TV.
Since there are already DVRs that hook up to the Mac, that will likely
be the same route to get/store broadcast content for the iTV.

Strictly digital-hub-wise, what can the Mac mini do that the iTV can't?

Notwithstanding Bob Iger's remark, there is no reason to think that the
iTV will have any local storage other than some RAM for buffering. It
will certainly not be a DVR in the current sense of the term, as it has
no video input ports. It's a video client, not a server.

The iTV does have a hard drive...
