Hi everybody.

I need to query my database from MS Excel. I am using INFORMIX SE 7.2 on WINDOWS XP. How can i do it?. Where can i get the appropriate ODBC driver?. Do i need the whole CLIENT SDK?.

Thanks a lot

Cordial saludo:

Several 3rd party ODBC drivers work with Informix or you can install the
Informix Connect for Windows instead. However, you have to pay for 3rd
party drivers while the Informix Client SDK is free (as is Informix Connect)
and contains all of Connect (it the drivers, runtime libraries, and message
files) plus the compiler libs and headers.

ADO plus either ODBC driver or OLEDB provider (install Client SDK).

Hello Luis,

The Informix ODBC driver is only available in the bundle of drivers
called Client SDK. You can download the bundle and then use the driver
you need. You can download Client SDK at
http://www14.software.ibm.com/webap...ch.jsp?rs=ifxdl
Look through the list for the platform you want to run it on and
download it. It is free of charge and does not include technical
support.

Good luck.

Ron

The ODBC driver is Bundled With I_Connect which is shipped with the
database server

If all you want to do is connect Excel to SE and run some SQL over the
connection then that is all you need.

You would only need CSDK if you wanted to write your own applications
and embed and compile low level calls to the ODBC driver within your
application
