Default Cheap AutoCAD tutorials

One of my friends is trying to learn AutoCAD in order to get a job. He is
one of my good friends and I have given him the necessary software to
practice with. Unfortunately, he has no prior experience with the program
and is starting from scratch. I don't have the time to teach him myself,
but I would like to help him find a place where he can learn it for cheap.
He is not rich by any means (hence the gift of the software), and I want
to be sure he gets quality lessons in the software. Where should I send
him? Is there a good free website or a local technical college that has
reasonable costs and a quality course? Thank you for your suggestions!

Do you know the old saw about "Cheap, Fast and Good?" Can he get some
retraining money to go to a college?
If not, there are books...
I learned from Omura's Mastering AutoCAD, and then plunged directly into a
simple drawing project for very little pay. (I had experience in my field,
and knew something about CAD from another platform.)

I'm interested in how you managed this. Did you purchase a license
(US$3000) for him?

Why are you interested? What does it matter how he managed it?
Are you saying you suspect OP didn't properly "give" this software to
his poor friend? Big deal.

it is a big deal to all of us that paid US$3000 for our software. Why
should his friend be given the software for free?

Here we go again..........

For all you know it could be a version below 2002 that Autodesk no
longer support and that you can buy for peanuts on ebay....

Yes and before anyone says the licence agreement says you can't sell,
well how can that apply to software that is not supported anymore ?

To those on the "Mr Angry I paid for Mine, I will use your Car etc
etc... Get a life and live it"

This is not answering the guys post.

Check out my AutoCAD Links Page for FREE Tutorials available on the
web. http://www.cadalot.co.uk

Going back to the other subject there are cheap and even free CAD
packages out there A9CAD looks like a very basic AutoCAD and even
loads AutoCAD drawings for FREE. IntelliCAD is Cheap, Version 6.5 of
Cadvance can be downloaded Free etc etc.

IMHO All software should be issued as Trialware for a period in excess
of 30 days (90 - 120 Days would be reasonable) and you should invest
in a licence if you intend to make money using the software.

Once I paid fifty bucks for a hooker, and I had a great organism. She
had plump, smooth breasts. Then I found out she once went with a guy for
free! Damn, was I pissed. Why should he be given the pussy for free?

You have a commendable site. It must be a lot of work keeping it
current.
You’re right, after you’re connected, you really don’t have to pay
anything to learn a CAD program.

What kind of job would that be?
If it's a management position, and he needs to know something about
AutoCad, because he will be managing people who are using it, then he can
learn a lot about it from books in a short time.

If it's a drafting position, then something's bass ackwards here.
Do you apply to Delta Airlines, then try to rip through your pilot's
license before the interview comes up? No - you learn the skills first, and
if you show ability, and enjoy it, then you may want to start considering
professional aspirations. What if your friend doesn't like it? What if he's
not particularly good at it? Most people work at it for months, even years
before finding employment at it.

Unless of course this is one of those "nephew" jobs - He's got the $75K
senior CAD manager position no matter what - just has to try to make it
look passable - while accomplished, hard working CAD draftsmen spend their
days flipping burgers and their nights looking through the "help wanted"
section. . .

That is probably the best analogy I have ever read! Anyways this pointis moot, are you going to report him? Is Autodesk REALLY going to press charges? Exactly... Chris

yeah, and Nehmo stoled the 50 bucks from his Grandmother. But she's not
going to report him so it's OK
